Bid Outline –

We will support students who are from areas of deprivation or those who are already on the edge of crime. Aspire will be available to support young people known to us or refereed to us by partner agencies such as Edge of Care and Northamptonshire Children’s Services/Social Care, CIRV (knife crime and gang culture initiative) and Education Inclusion. The young people are from areas of deprivation or are identified as on the edge of crime. They are some of the most vulnerable young people in our community, they need guidance, support and mentoring.  Aspire offers consistency and stability throughout the holiday, helping prevent young people from making poor decisions.  The programme will support 50 young people from Northamptonshire, based at Franklin’s Gardens.

Bid Outline – The aim of our project will be to raise awareness across the county for children from the ages of 4-17. We aim to be able provide support in a 3-tier structure; Education, Prevention and Reaction.  The main aims of our project are to tackle anti-social behaviour, stopping young people becoming involved in crime and supporting vulnerable people. Our project will address all of these points through the 3-tier strategy as outlined above. Educating children at a young age and working with schools to ensure that this education is maintained and revisited throughout primary age we can help children  make better life choices, give valuable life skills and the mental strength to be able to continue to make the right choices.
Our prevention project we will build on the education we have provided the children through the specifically designed assemblies to give the practical skills they need in life and to be able to put what they have learnt into practice so that when it comes to making those decisions they have not only have the knowledge but the practical skills to make those life choices.
Our reaction project supports young people by giving them a focus on something outside of school, which will provide focus, discipline, respect and mental fortitude which will mean that they would be less likely to fall in with gangs and crime and instead give them the skills to grow and achieve something through a pathway they wouldn’t normally have access to. All of our courses will be certificated so that at the end the children and young people will be able to have a sense of achievement and have something to show for their hard work and commitment.

Bid Outline –  To increase capacity and create 2 new beds for those needing rehab support.  Demand for this service which is provided at no charge to the client continues to exceed our capacity. Within our Business Plan we have therefore sought ways of expanding capacity at minimum cost. Recovery House is three terraced houses which were converted by Spire Homes (now the Longhurst Group).

Bid Outline – This project aims to improve the wellbeing of vulnerable women by delivering ten-week wellbeing groups to enhance their mental health.
The group provides a ‘tool kit’ of resources to improve resilience and emotional stability through finding direction, acceptance and meaning in their individual journey’s. It is based on the “10 keys to happier living” from Action for Happiness which is an evidence-based approach. All group participants will see an improvement in their mental health enabling them to live a prosocial life which includes learning to help, share, donate, co-operate and volunteer. This diverts people from the path of criminal activity.

Improved mental health sees women able to improve their employment / financial circumstances and reduce their need for self medication through using substances which both lead to poor choices and offending behaviour.

Bid Outline –

Our Proposal will be to target crime hotspots, to establish target areas in conjunction with local NPT. We would then leaflet specific areas to set up new NHW schemes. They would be provided with street signs, literature, window stickers, to help develop their schemes.

Our centrally based toolkits on crime prevention:-
– Burglaries, Child Sexual Exploitation, Domestic Abuse, Scams, Serious Violence, Terrorism,
and Reducing risk – Youth Isolation, Reducing Loneliness and Vulnerability,
will support schemes and members in targeted areas, to reduce crime and the fear of crime, build stronger and safer communities.

Our plan will be to have all 500 signs allocated to the schemes that we set up; we would estimate that we would achieve 80 to 90 new schemes in the main hotspot areas.

Bid Outline – To create an accredited online training and associated safety workbook for primary and secondary schools to help them identify additional risks that girls from practicing FGM communities will face during the Covid-19 pandemic.  This will take place on a face to face school based platform, webinar and resource based training post ‘cutting season’
Additionally remind them of their Mandatory Reporting under the Serious Crimes Act. We will create a Mandatory Reporting algorithm for each school. We will then evaluate this work to gain a better understanding of how schools in Northampton are addressing safeguarding for their young girls at risk of FGM in order to keep them safe.

We also want to produce a flyer to disseminate in communities regarding our commitment to safeguard young girls at risk of FGM and promote the work that’s taking place in schools. We will use this opportunity to remind communities of legislation around FGM and potential prosecutions as a consequence.  We wish to deliver this to:
• all education practitioners from 62 primary and secondary schools in Northampton. Averagely (but exceeding) 20 per school = 1,240 Adults over 18 years (training).
• 5-10 BAME organisations in Northampton = 100+ all ages (flyer distribution).
